About 30.6 million Africans have migrated internationally (including within Africa), a report by the World Bank says.

The report says approximately US$22 billion was remitted to African countries south of the Sahara Sub-Saharan Africa last year by Diasporans, representing an 8.5 percent increase on 2010 figures.

“Technological progress has made it easier for migrants to stay in touch and contribute to social and economic development of their home countries,” the report says.
